Gold Bulls Flex Their Muscles

February gold futures on Wednesday morning hit a fresh two-month high of $871.30 an ounce. The recent sharp depreciation of the value of the U.S. dollar versus the other major currencies has been a bullish catalyst for the precious yellow metal. February gold is presently in a two-month-old uptrend from the October contract low of $688.00 an ounce. The next upside price objective for the resurgent gold market bulls is pushing and closing prices above solid overhead trend-line resistance at the $890.00 area.

Quadruple Options Expiration Week

| 2 TrackBacks

It comes as no surprise that the marketeer, those who are left standing, remain in a manic state. We must first explain that by manic we mean either too gloomy or too happy, but never normal....that wouldn't be fun now would it? Thus we flip from one side to the other much like a ping pong ball in play.

Soybeans See Short Covering in a Bear Market

Soybean futures at the Chicago Board of Trade this week have seen a short-covering bounce from last Friday's contract low of $7.76 1/4 a bushel. However, prices remain trapped below a five-month-old downtrend on the daily bar chart, from the early-July contract high of $16.48 a bushel. Bears to retain the overall near-term technical advantage in the soybean futures market.

Priced to Destruction

This week we have the markets starting out trying to understand the NFP data. The worst report since 1974 and we rally?! We have all heard the term "priced to perfection", a time when the market must deliver the best case scenario of any report or it will fall. Well for the last few weeks the market had been going through the inverse which I am calling "priced to destruction", I am defining it as "a period in time when the market must deliver the absolute worst case scenario on any given report or it will rally".

Manic Markets

What can we say, the market it totally neurotic! What we are seeing is fear and insecurity. Further, we will feel and hear the humming of the monetary printing presses opening the flood of money into the market. We are not the sole printers of money; it seems to be a global affair. So, if everybody opens the presses and prints more money, there will be more money in circulation. Eventually, the increased flood of money hitting the globe will just inflate the cost of things, not tomorrow, or next week but eventually it will happen.

Economy Is Certainly Not Golden

The U.S economy was dealt yet another blow as the the government announced 533.000 Americans lost their jobs in November. Since the January 1, 2008 Americans have lost 1.8 million jobs. The U.S now has it's highest unemployment rate since October 1993. These are certainly tough times in all economic sectors.
