CHICAGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–April 20, 2005– Peregrine Financial Group, Inc. (PFG) begins its third annual CTA Challenge on May 2, 2005. This is a competition to identify and showcase emerging Commodity Trading Advisor (CTA) talent, strategies and techniques.
“The purpose of the CTA Challenge is to find talented, new futures and foreign exchange (FX) fund managers in response to our clients’ interests in alternative investments. PFG also benefits from building relationships with new CTAs so that we can continue to expand our offering of core investment choices and opportunities. It is a great enhancement to our product base for our global customer base,” said Michael Killian, Sr. Vice President of PFG Managed Futures.
PFG Chairman and CEO Russell R. Wasendorf, Sr. added that “PFG continues to seek out accessible and attractive venues for our retail accounts in the US $25,000-to-$50,000 range. Many of our competitors’ CTAs require much higher minimum investment amounts. We focus on newer, or “emerging”, CTAs who can provide our profile client base of retail investors with consistent, strong, risk-adjusted returns, diversification from traditional stock and bond investments, and alternative investment capabilities previously available only to institutional-sized accounts. ”
The winner of the CTA Challenge, which extends from the first of May through the end of October, is eligible to trade a US $500,000 trading account allocation. The CTA Challenge has grown each year from a field of 30 entrants at the outset in 2003. “We foresee that the contest will again help us identify a select group of CTA talent,” Killian stated.
The CTA Challenge was created in 2003 as part of the PFG/TSI (TraderSource, Inc.) alliance. TSI is responsible for tracking the Challenge results. To learn more, visit http://pfgbest.com/cta/contest_details.asp.
