The Concept:

Many people think that commodity futures markets are just about speculating or “gambling.” While it is true that futures markets can be used for speculating, that is not the primary reason for their existence. Commodity Futures markets are actually designed as vehicles for hedging and risk management, that is, to help people avoid “gambling” when they don’t want to.

The Problem:

The commodity futures markets have experienced unprecedented growth in trading volume over the past two decades, reflecting the investing public’s confidence in the integrity of these institutions. Unfortunately, too few individuals have acquired proficiency at trading. Inexperienced traders with unrealistic goals, are seriously under-performing the market, exposing their capital to unnecessary risk. Market regulators are becoming concerned about the potential risk to global capital markets as well as the personal losses involved.

The Solution:

CT has developed an information solution website, for on-line collaboration called a “Collective Blog”. It’s a dynamic, interactive community of people who share a common interest in the various diverse categories of futures, options and commodities.

CT is built on a WordPress “personal publishing platform”, which allows many authors and editors to contribute information to the website simultaneously and broadcasts headlines across the web via RSS syndication. The software also enables readers to collaborate by posting comments and/or questions, which are then published with responses from the authors and other readers.

The State of Blogging:

By the end of 2004 blogs had established themselves as a key part of online culture. Two surveys by the Pew Internet & American Life Project in November established new contours for the blogosphere: 8 million American adults say they have created blogs; blog readership jumped 58% in 2004 and now stands at 27% of internet users; 5% of internet users say they use RSS aggregators or XML readers to get the news and other information delivered from blogs and content-rich Web sites as it is posted online; and 12% of internet users have posted comments or other material on blogs. Still, 62% of Internet users do not know what a blog is.

The Bloggers:

CT has recruited writers, with expertise in the Commodities listed and traded on the major Futures exchanges of the world. CT is seeking more writers and bloggers in our bid to expand. If you, or someone you know, is a financial writer with a passion for writing about the Futures Market, then please write to us by clicking here..
